Apostle Thelma D. Johnson, a native of North Carolina, is a long time resident of the Village of Hempstead, New York. Apostle Johnson was educated through the Hempstead school system and continued her education at Hampton Institute, where she completed courses at Wilfred Academy of Beauty School, which bestowed her with a cosmetologist licence. Apostle Johnson attended Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Joseph J. Howell Jr. As a long time member of Faith Baptist she was part of the Youth Department and later became a member of the Gospel Chorus and Usher Board. Apostle Johnson attended Faith Baptist Bible School taking course in General Bible, Hebrews, Acts of the Apostle and the Holy Spirit. God spoke to Apostle Johnson calling her into the ministry of evangelist.
The late Dr. Joseph J. Howell licensed Apostle Thelma Johnson as such in January of 1990. In 1991, God called Apostle Johnson to work in another part of the vineyard, and she became a member of Restoration Deliverance Center, under the leadership of Bishop Ronnie L. Cotton. Apostle Johnson became a part of the ministerial staff of the church. Her duties included Sunday school teacher, Pastor’s Aide President and Outreach and Evangelism. In 1994 Apostle Johnson was ordained an Evangelist and consecrated as Assistant Pastor, Apostle Johnson worked in the ministry faithfully. She attended Deeper Life School of the Bible, and has preached throughout the east coast. Apostle Johnson continues to preach and teach God’s word.
She ministers at women’s conferences, workshops, prayer breakfast and other church events. In January of 1999, God established Apostle Johnson as founder and Senior Pastor of Rehoboth Fellowship Center, Inc. In 2001 Pastor Johnson was consecrated in the sacred order of Apostle. Apostle Johnson attended the Berean Bible Institute of Leadership Training. She also attended Eagle Bible Institute where she has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education\Theology. May 2005 she earned her Master of Theology in “Divinity”. In 2008 Apostle Johnson was blessed to receive a Honorary Doctorate Degree from The House of Refuge Bible Institute, Baldwin, NY. In 2009 Apostle Johnson was invited to join the staff of the House of Refuge Bible Institute and enter into covenant partners with The Alliance Ministries International (Overseer Rev. Dr. William A. Watson, Jr., Chief-Prelate Apostle Dr. Katherine J. Williams). Apostle Johnson in 2013 was appointed and proudly serves as Dean of The House of Refuge Bible Institute. She also became an ordained Chaplain. All to the glory of GOD.
Apostle Johnson is the mother of one child, Alea Sade Johnson and is blessed to have the support of her mother, the late Elder Doris Monroe, who worked with her in the ministry. Apostle Johnson believes in training the believer to be leaders in the body of Christ. She believes Philippians 4:13, “I can do all all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Apostle Johnson is a woman with the desire to see the captives set free and the brokenhearted healed.
Her credo is, “I’m walking in power and I’m living in victory.”
